Contractions started Monday morning at 4am and continued all day Monday with no sign of the baby coming.
Martha arrived at 2.30pm Monday afternoon and Dorte arrived at 8pm in the evening. They both worked extremely hard to try to speed up the process using various techniques from acupunture to dancing . They also advised Gerard on how he could participate and assist me enabling him to be very active in the whole process and allowing us to really share the whole experience together and work as a team.
When Ciara was born at 2.36am Tuesday morning we were both exhausted but relieved that she was alive and healthy. At this stage Marta and Dorthe were working away quietly in the background and as soon as Ciara was born and they knew she was healthy and ok, they gave her to me to hold and left the room. It was wonderful to be able to relax after the birth and enjoy the first moments of our daughters life together totally uninterrupted. It was a moment we will never forget.
